Apart from these, one was unintended but was too good not to take advantage of once it started. Bonus points if you pick it out (mark it as U/I) but otherwise I’ll take either one as correct.

I can’t count how many times people have told me “Ur AWD won’t help u trun hurdurdur!”

I think what they mean is that it won’t help me swerve to avoid an obstacle (like braking, which AWD actually doesn’t help with), but yes, it makes taking corners oh so much easier.

I’d say that it’ll make swerving to avoid something easier as well, but of course if you’re regularly in a position where you need that... #1 you’re an idiot (I’m not directing this at you, to be clear) and #2 eventually it’s not going to be enough.

Wow, this is tougher than I thought!

Ok, well 1, 2, and 8 don’t show much steering correction after the slide, so I’m pretty sure that they were intentional.

3 and 4 have more angle, but I’m guessing that maybe 3 was intentional after all

5 felt like the poo one to me, getting close to that other car, but 6 looks even closer to the curb, so that might actually be it

7 had some decent angle in both directions, but possibly intentional

Take into consideration that it’s a wide-angle lens and it appears more subtle than you’d think.

-TBH, I was on the fence about #5. There was no intent behind it, but relative to the poo one it wasn’t near as bad. I’ll let you have 1/2 a point because I was on the fence and the way you reasoned it out, but I was looking for UO. Here’s a hint to get an angle on the way I think: look closer at the outside of the turn than the inside.

1 had my ass puckered, the other 2 I knew I was in control and look closer than they were.

Like you said it would be easy with sound... and to that I’d add local knowledge. A couple of these I’m more familiar with, and therefore know my limits better. Others I’m less familiar with and combined with slush left brown stains behind.

But as there ain’t no sound or local knowledge, you’ll have to make do :)

I’m in 2wd 90% of the time in the Taco, the only times I switch it in is fresh snow before the plows get out.. Once there is gravel or bare pavement it’s fine. The Forester doesn’t slide or act up unless I really try to.

Winter tires will do that.

Yeah, so am I... or was. Last winter was so dry my tires really took it in the pants. They’ll do me for this winter, but they are definitely past their best before so I’ll be spending a lot more time in 4wd this time around.

Eh, I’m gonna have to throw in the towel. Any further guesses would just be stabs in the dark. 1, 2, & 8 all still look pretty controlled to me. I’m not having good luck picking up on any other hints. It was fun trying to read them, though!

BTW, it looks like Kinja finally “digested” my initial reply. I did not edit it at all, but now it’s showing up as I originally typed it. Weird.

Fwiw, #2 was UO, The ones where my nose is close to stuff I didn’t find hair raising if they were UO because you’re always slide away from that so no poo, #6 it just started sliding but I had all the room in the world so I just let it go, #7 was scary. There was a car coming in the second lane behind me so I really didn’t want to go there, and I came way too close to going in oncoming traffic to be comfortable.
